Why Few ‘African’-owned or started businesses carry on to the next generation

Have you reflected on these observations:

  • Few ‘African’-owned or started businesses or organizations carry on to the next generation. Why?
  • Many ‘Indian’ or ‘Mzungu’-owned and run businesses/ organizations successfully transition to the next generation. How come?
  • Usually, unethical businesses do not carry on beyond the founders’ generation.

Next week on Wed April 18th, 6.30-8.30am at Nairobi Club, PDR Room, we will share breakfast and interact with the family of Amb. Kariuki Kigo, MD, Safety Surveyors, and Consulate for the Republic of Benin in Kenya. One by one, he says each member of the family asked to join him in his business – now a thriving and ethical family business (awarded the ELNET Mark of Ethics in 2016)!

What helped with that? What are the advantages? What challenges do they face?

Theme: Growing Business/ Organizations Beyond One Generation

Come for this inspiring session. Investment is only Ksh 1,500 (breakfast and logistics).
