Eng Solomon Muli Kitema

Eng Kitema is a born again Christian who strongly believes in ethical business practices.

He joined ELNET in 2012 and has been a member of ELNET since then. He has been a member of the Business Leaders Forum (BLF) committee and has participated in ELNET organized forums including ‘Nimeamua Kuwa Ethical’ movement launch in September 2016 which is a mentorship program targeting the youths.

“I joined ELNET by invitation through an email. Thereafter I realized this was an important platform of engagement and networking with other like-minded Kenyans to give hope to a desperate situation through setting practical examples on how to engage in business in an ethical manner in Kenya.” Says Eng. Kitema.

He goes on to say “I have experienced the strength in numbers. The encouraging messages from the players in the business world who have been doing business in Kenya without engaging in corruption have been an important fuel in moving forward.”

He is the current chairman of the Executive Business Group (EBG), an arm of Executive Leadership Network (ELNET), a body whose major task is holistic societal transformation. EBG is concerned with spearheading ethical business practices in Kenya.

Eng. Kitema a licensed engineer both in Kenya and Zambia. He graduated from the University of Nairobi with BSc in Civil Engineering 20 years ago and has practiced engineering ever since with specialization in bridge design and construction. He is registered as a Consulting Engineer with Engineers Board of Kenya (P.ConsEng) and is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers of Kenya (FIEK). He is also a Registered Engineer with Engineering Registration Board of Zambia (REng) and a Professional Engineer of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (PEIZ).  

He is a member of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Kenya (MACEK) and the current honorary treasurer of the same body. He is also a member of the National Implementation Committee on Eurocodes (NICE), which is tasked with the responsibility of introducing the use of Structural Eurocodes in Kenya.

Since obtaining his degree, Eng Kitema has worked and held various positions both in government and in private sector where he is currently a Managing Director running an engineering consultancy firm. He is also involved in capacity building in the same field through mentorship of young aspiring engineers in the area of bridge design and construction.

Besides the professional practice he is a member of the missions board at International Christian Centre where is tasked with the outreach docket. He has personally been involved in mission outreaches within and outside the country.

He is married to Eng Teresia Wairimu and they are blessed with three children; Mwendwa, Mutai and Mwende.
